Our Mission
Founded in 1993, Cyrano's Place has been dedicated to
promoting personal excellence thru fencing and fitness in the local community.
At Cyrano's Place we strive to provide a safe, welcoming, fun, and inclusive environment
for all athletes to learn, grow, and excel. We strive to instill the values of respect, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance in all our athletes. And to help develop the skills people need to succeed both on and off the fencing strip.

Instruction/Membership
We offer fencing instruction for students ages 5 thru adults.
We are the only Northern Ohio club offering instruction in Foil, Epee and Saber. Beginner Classes teach fencing fundamentals, preparing students to join our advanced classes. Our advanced classes help hone students' skills for competition and fitness.
6-class Beginner instruction:
Age 5-7 Monday 4pm September 8 (offered in fall only)
Youth Ages 8-12 Wednesday 5pm September 3 and October 15
Teen/Adult Ages 12/over Wednesday 6pm September 3 and October 15
Cost $90, All fencing equipment provided.
Private instruction is available by appointment.

Age is but a number.
Fencing is for anyone looking for a fun challenge.
If you can walk, you can fence.
And, if you can't walk, you can do wheelchair fencing.
So, Yes, it's for everyone!
Fencing is a parable for Life:
There is always someone out to get you. It's a matter of wisdom to know whether you should be more offensively or defensively dealing with them.
Fencing is considered one of the SAFEST Olympic sports according to the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA).
Fencing is dance meets chess.

Beginner Classes
Cost $90
Our beginner semester is 6 one-hour classes
designed to introduce students to fencing basics.
Skills include basic footwork, bladework, safety,
competitive strategies,
stretching, electric (competitive) fencing,
history and more.
All fencing equipment is provided
and assigned to students.
Teen/Adult 12/over classes:
6pm Wednesday Sept 3
Cost $90

Nigel for the win!
Nigel has earned/re-earned his rating in EVERY WEAPON this calendar year!
In January he won the men's foil to re-earn his C25 at the Indiana Fencing Club 2005 Winter Classic.
in February, he placed 3rd at the Rocky River HS Invitational to earn his C25 in Epee. (He had NO prior epee rating.)
And in May, entered a local unclassified
Nigel has earned/re-earned his rating in EVERY WEAPON this calendar year!

in February, he placed 3rd at the Rocky River HS Invitational to earn his C25 in Epee. (He had NO prior epee rating.)
And in May, entered a local unclassified Saber tournament to earn his E25.
So, he's earned his trifecta in fencing.
Feb 22 -23, 2025 Queen City RYC/RCC
We traveled to Cincinatti for the Queen City Cup.
Emmett (picturied) finished 2nd in the Y8 Men's Foil. This was his second regional cup.
Liam Finished 3rd in Y14Men's Saber and 2nd in Cadet men's saber.
Declan finished 3rd in Y12 Men's Epee

Both Rocky River High School and Cyrano's Place teammates Max and Shane finished 2nd and 3rd in the Men's foil. Both earning their E25 rating. (Ratings in fencing are similar to belts in martial arts. However, they are earned by competition prowess.)

Shane, representing Rocky River HS and Ronin placed 2nd and 3rd in Men's Saber at the 2025 Chapman Invitational. (Yes, we know that Shane is a foilist. But good footwork and distance is universal to all weapons. )
Elijah and Cedric placed 9 and 10th in Men's Epee to earn their E25.
Nigel finished 5th in Men's foil and 6th in Men's epee.

Quiye Li come to train with us (inditrectly) from China and CWRU. He's a mere 6'4. Coach Sara was seen standing on a chair to speak to him eye to eye. It worked; he earned his D24 in saber today.
